Aberdeen has a rich history as a traditional fishing harbour and unique local cultural characteristics. The ‘Aberdeen Cultural Park’ project aims to transform the existing underutilized waterfront area into a vibrant cultural and recreational hub, promoting the local heritage and attracting tourists, thereby fostering economic development in the region.
The park capitalizes on the scenic views of Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter, offering a captivating experience through landscape design and water features that integrate elements of the fisherfolk culture. Key facilities within the park include the Aberdeen Museum and Cultural Center, a fish-shaped observation deck with a catering space, and a Harbour Grandstand. The Waterwall Plaza features lawn areas, a recreational platform, and a grandstand, fostering leisure activities and social interaction among residents and visitors.
