This design is inspired by the relationship between the waterfront and the city in Hong Kong. The characteristics of Hong Kong, with its limited land and dense population, led to its early development primarily focusing on basic needs before reclaiming land for various other purposes. However, the coastlines of Hong Kong are predominantly occupied by infrastructure and towering buildings, resulting in a disconnection between the city and the waterfront. This has also led to a comparatively poorer beach experience for people compared to other countries and regions. Based on these reasons and issues, the Sai Ying Pun Waterfront Linkage Project was born.
