"I am Agnes, a landscape architecture graduate driven by resilient urban design. My work, including the “HK30% Food City” project, explores how Hong Kong can achieve self-sufficiency by embedding food production into our urban fabric. I believe landscape architecture is the essential bridge between ecological functionality and social wellbeing. Rather than treating space as a static backdrop, I design dynamic, productive systems that respond to climate instability and demographic shifts. By merging ecological principles with smart, automated technology, I aim to weave agriculture into the domestic environment. My goal is to create human-centric spaces that empower residents to reconnect with the land, ensuring our community remains sustainable, nourished, and resilient in an evolving world."

HK30% Food City is a pioneering urban prototype in the Northern Metropolis, addressing Hong Kong’s 90% dependence on food imports. Covering 206 hectares in Heung Yuen Wai, the project integrates 20,000 vertical farming towers and 3D-printed food labs into a dense, walkable urban fabric. By embedding production within housing—ranging from farmhouses to high-rise blocks—it empowers 11,400 residents to act as both consumers and producers. This closed-loop ecosystem, fueled by organic waste recycling, achieves 100% community self-sufficiency. HK30% Food City proves that high-density development and sustainable agriculture can coexist, offering a replicable, resilient model for Hong Kong’s future food security.
