I am Chillie, a final-year Quantity Surveying student with a deep passion for the construction industry and the critical role of cost management in delivering successful projects. Over the past few years, I have developed strong skills in cost estimation, contract administration, and measurement techniques. These experiences have significantly strengthened my analytical abilities, attention to detail, and overall professional competence. I am eager to connect with like-minded professionals as I approach this important milestone in my career.
As technology continues to advance, the Hong Kong government has proactively promoted Construction 2.0 emphasizing innovation, professionalism, and rejuvenation while considering sustainability and other critical factors. Increasing the application of offsite construction in Hong Kong construction industry is one of the strategies. Even though it has been proven that OSC-SC brought sustainability factors to a project, there is still room for improvement. Hence, this study aims to perform a comprehensive review on Offsite Construction Supply Chain (OSC-SC) for Hong Kong construction projects, particularly in the context of the challenges. In response, this research contributes by conducting interview and questionnaire. The objectives of this study include first identifying the current situation and challenges in the OSC-SC of Hong Kong construction projects, then propose resolution using technologies and case study. The study employs a mixed methodology, combining case studies and an expert questionnaire survey to achieve the objectives. While the case study analyses the similarity between overseas and Hong Kong offsite construction projects and proposed improvement solutions for Hong Kong offsite construction projects; the expert questionnaire survey aims to investigate the suitability of proposed solutions in terms of experts’ experiences.
