BA (Hons) CAT

My graduation project, *Cat, Box and Mouse*, is a three-minute 2D digital animated short. The story follows a mischievous cat and a clever mouse as they plunge into a chaotic, slapstick chase over the ultimate prize: a simple cardboard box. In this project, I focused on mastering comedic timing and expressive body language, bringing fresh energy to the classic “cat-and-mouse” trope through modern digital techniques. This film showcases not only my technical skills in 2D animation but also my core philosophy as a creator—using humor and relatable rivalries to connect with the audiences. I hope my creation brings a smile to your face!

The story unfolds inside an ordinary room where a vibrant purple cardboard box sits in the center. A sleek, confident cat discovers this perfect hiding spot and proudly claims ownership. However, the arrival of a small mouse sparks an immediate, escalating conflicts over the territories. The first half showcases the cat’s physical dominance, using its size and agility to swat the mouse away, treating the clash as a trivial game. Yet, arrogance becomes the predator’s downfall. As the cat settles comfortably inside the box to celebrate, the overlooked mouse refuses to back down and quietly initiates a counter-attack. The climax shifts the tone from slapstick chase to gripping suspense…
