Hello, my name is Waiva Oshiya. I am a motivated student who enjoys learning and taking on new challenges. I am also a part-time tutor, and this has inspired me to create my project, Matheta. I hope to address challenges I face as an educator and improve student learning experiences through this project.

Mathēta is an AI‑Assisted Classroom Analytics and Instructional Decision Support System designed to enhance mathematics teaching through structured workflows and explainable analytics. Unlike a traditional Learning Management System, Mathēta focuses on helping teachers interpret student performance and make informed instructional decisions. It integrates assignment management, diagnostic sessions, deterministic risk classification, and controlled AI-generated question support to create a coherent classroom support platform.

A key feature of the system is its domain-level competency tracking. Each student’s performance is grouped into core mathematics domains such as Number, Algebra, Measures, Shape & Space, and Data Handling. Rather than updating these statistics abruptly after every activity, the system progressively updates them over time. This means that new performance results gradually influence the student’s domain profile while still preserving their previous learning history. As students complete assignments and diagnostics, improvements or declines are reflected steadily, avoiding sudden spikes or drops in performance indicators.

This progressive updating provides a more stable and realistic picture of learning growth. Combined with class-specific thresholds, transparent risk labels, and teacher override options, the system ensures that analytics remain both interpretable and aligned with professional judgement.
