BA (Hons) in Landscape Architecture

As a final-year student of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Landscape Architecture at the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi), I am Chau Ying Tung (240155298). Passionate about integrating innovative construction technologies with human-centred and sustainable design, my work explores how landscape architecture can enhance the quality of life in rapidly developing urban contexts. This Graduation Project, MiC Landscape Innovation: A Sustainable Blueprint for Transitional Housing in Sing Ping Village, represents the culmination of my undergraduate studies. It reflects my strong interest in modular systems, circular economy principles, and the creation of dignified, inclusive outdoor spaces for vulnerable communities. Through this project, I aim to bridge the gap between MiC building technology and high-quality landscape design, contributing to a more resilient and livable Hong Kong.

This graduation project presents MiC Landscape Innovation (MiL), a modular and reusable landscape system for transitional housing in Hong Kong. By extending the principles of Modular Integrated Construction into landscape design, it develops a standardised grid system with interchangeable modules for edible gardens, multi-functional seating, shelters, pathways, and age-friendly play areas.
Applied at Pok Oi Sing Ping Village in Ping Che, the design transforms underutilised open spaces into dignified, inclusive, and ecologically resilient environments. Emphasising circular economy principles, MiL enables rapid assembly, flexible reconfiguration, and full relocation with minimal waste. This project offers a scalable blueprint that enhances livability and supports Hong Kong’s sustainable urban development goals.
