Outdoor Social Facilities for Hong Kong Teenagers

My name is So Ka Lam, Koey. I am a final-year student in Product Design at THEi, and I genuinely enjoy turning ideas into something meaningful. I consider myself a patient and responsible person, and I take pride in learning through practice and improving step by step. Through my working experience, I learned how to communicate clearly, stay organized, and adjust my approach depending on different people’s needs. I also value collaboration—listening to others and working toward a shared goal. I’m proactive, open to feedback, and I believe creativity should be guided by thoughtful design thinking.
This final year product design project creates an outdoor interactive social park together with a bespoke mobile application specially designed for Hong Kong young youth aged 13-29. The design addresses social awkwardness, over-reliance on superficial online dating and difficulties building genuine in-person friendships. Three signature collaborative installations Seesaw Generator, Connect Tiles, Cycle Runner, and Harmoni Bench require two or more users’ to operate, naturally easinge conversation barriers. The accompanying app enables pre-site user matching, real-time facility status checking and gamified reward systems to motivate offline participation. The park supportsustainable development and self-sufficiency through stored electricity. From concept sketches, 3D visual renderings and finished physical prototypes, the project builds a safe, engaging outdoor environment that shifts young people from digital-only connections toward meaningful face-to-face interactions.
本設計面向香港 13 至 29 歲青年群體，打造戶外互動社交公園與配套專屬手機應用，針對當代年輕人怯於線下社交、過度依賴淺層線上交友、難以發展真實友誼等現實問題展開設計。項目設置四款特色協作式戶外設施，全部設施需要多名使用者配合才能正常使用，以此潛移默化打破社交隔閡。配套 APP 實現入園前用戶匹配、設施實況查詢與趣味積分激勵機制，以有效提升青年線下參與意願。場地整體融入可持續發展能力、讓公園可以實行自給自足。從初稿手繪、概念優化、三維渲染到實體模型落地，整套設計致力於打造安全有趣的戶外公共空間，引導青少年走出虛擬網絡世界，在實體場景中建立真誠的面對面社交關係。
