To Break is a 3-minute music video inspired by Simone de Beauvoir’s concept of “the Other.” It integrates motion graphics animation with hand-drawn visuals, employing symbolic imagery such as controlling hands, binding red threads, and fragmented, burning mirrors and frames to render the abstract notion of “othering” into perceivable visual forms.

The editing incorporates shifting rhythms and glitch effects to reflect emotional transitions throughout the narrative. The protagonist undergoes a progression from passive control to active resistance, ultimately breaking free from the red threads, symbolising the reclamation of subjectivity.

Through the use of digital visual language, the work critiques mechanisms of everyday discipline, rejects the oppressive gaze, and advocates for female autonomy, encouraging women to assert their independence and live authentically.
